Where to have lunch on the slopes of Val d'Isère and Tignes? At 2,400 m, La Folie Douce brings together five mountain restaurants : French cuisine at La Fruitière, upscale Italian at La Cucucina, self-service at La Petite Cuisine, burgers at Le Butcher, and cheese, wine and cigars at Les 3 Caves. On the terrace, indoors or in the front row of the cabaret, before the après-ski.

At La Fruitière, everything starts early. The stock is on before the slopes open. Our produce is seasonal, sourced from local Savoie producers we have worked with season after season. A butter-finished sauce, a gratin fresh from the oven: French cooking just the way we love it, at 2,400 m between Val d'Isère and Tignes. We'll seat you. The rest takes as long as it takes.

    At La Cucucina, every gesture is precise and every ingredient is elevated. In the centre of the plate, the burrata gently opens to reveal all its delicacy. The whole menu is Italian. The highest Italian restaurant in Val d'Isère - Tignes, with a spectacular view of Mont Blanc.

        Tray in hand, you walk past the chefs at work. The tartiflette comes out of the oven, the reblochon still bubbling. The confit duck leg is plated to order, the vegetable tagine simmers alongside.           Val d'Isère's fast-good spot: ordered, served, off you go. A burger at 11.30am or a waffle at 4pm the kitchen never closes between services. The bun is toasted, the cheddar melts over the patty. Order at the counter, then eat on the terrace or take it away.
